This Russian drama of love and tragedy brings a modern twist to the story of Job. It tells the story of a man living on the Barents Sea Peninsula struggling against a corrupt mayor, highlighting important social issues of contemporary Russia as experienced by ordinary people. It won the Best Screenplay award at Cannes, Best Film at the London Film Festival and is hotly tipped for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar.

Doors open 8pm, film starts 8.30pm, non-members welcome.

Wimbledon Film Club screens in central Wimbledon at hmvcurzon, 23 The Broadway, Wimbledon SW19 1RE on alternate Tuesdays. Doors open at 8pm, films start at 8.30pm.
