The Publication Stage for the South London Waste Plan DPD will take place from 4 January 2011 to 15 February 2011.

The South London Waste Plan DPD sets out the issues and objectives to be met in waste management for the next ten years. It is a joint Development Plan Document and covers a geographical area comprising the London Borough of Croydon, the Royal Borough of Kingston-upon-Thames, the London Borough of Merton and the London Borough of Sutton. The South London Waste Plan DPD contains policies to guide the determination of planning applications for waste management facilities and identifies existing waste sites to be safeguarded and areas where waste management development may be suitable.

I am pleased to attach a Statement of Representations Procedure, which provides details of how to comment on the DPD and its Sustainability Appraisal. In summary, comments may be made:
● through the on-line consultation system at: http://southlondonwasteplan.limehouse.co.uk/portal;
● by email at: southlondonwasteplan@rbk.kingston.gov.uk; or
● by post to: The Project Manager, South London Waste Plan, The Royal Borough of Kingston-upon-Thames, High Street, Kingston-upon-Thames. KT1 1EU.
Responses must be received by midnight on Tuesday, 15 February 2011.

At this stage you are invited to make comments on the legal compliance and soundness of the DPD. Details of what constitutes legal compliance and soundness can be found in the notes of the standard response form which is available on the on-line consultation system and on South London Waste Plan pages of each partner borough’s website (see enclosure for website addresses).

If you require further information, please do not hesitate to contact me on the above telephone number.

Yours faithfully,

Duncan Clarke
