ATKINSON MORLEY

The Atkinson Morley Task Force comprises leading members of The Wimbledon Society and local Resident Associations who are concerned at the fate of some 17 acres of open land and playing fields (classified as Metropolitan Open Land) which surround the present Atkinson Morley Hospital and are owned by the St George's Health Trust. The AMH moves in 2002 to St George's in Tooting and there is a high level of local concern of the extent of development which might follow that move. The Task Force brings together the NHS Trust, would be developers, the local authority and other interested parties to provide an ongoing debate at the highest possible level to resolve the issues and allay public concern. Kingston University Department of Landscape Architecture, Media and Communication, and Urban and Landscape Studies have been assisting stake holders in exploring the issues of the site.
