Wimbledon Civic Forum
Executive Committee report to Governing Council
22 February 2007
During 2006 we have continued to run forums on Crime, Education, Health, Transport, Climate Change, Racism and Urban Design.
We have continued to support the Council’s local Area Forums.
We have maintained the web site and published two Bulletins, In January and July.
We have participated in discussion with LB Merton regarding the P3 development, and have acted as independent assessor in the selection of the new Head of Environment and Regeneration at LB Merton.
We have commented on the new Local development Framework.
We have continued to support the Merton Priory Trust, and Wandle Valley Forum.
We have participated in the Liveability project at LB Merton, where during the coming year there will be a series of built projects to improve key areas of public space.
Our database has been transferred to a more reliable and user friendly (Mac) programme, so that we are able to contact our Friends and members more easily and efficiently.
Numbers of Friends and members has remained relatively stable. We have 212 Friends and 1809 members.
We are grateful for:
the continued support fo Friends, who provide the core funding for the Forum.
the time and energy of the core executive team. (We are welcoming tonight, subject to your approval Andy Ray as our new Honorary Secretary.)
Challenges ahead include:
Getting better publicity for our forums, so that they are better attended.
Maintaining regular links with our MP and the Borough
Continuing to produce the Bulletin in relevant readable format.
Identifying significant themes for Forums and following up results wherever possible.
